Hanna Shykind

“As Jill, Shykind had me at hello, but then embraced me with her powerful and textured singing…She is simply fantastic.”

- Cleveland Stage Alliance on Dobama Theatre’s World Premiere of 33 1/3

“…Hanna Shykind is to be commended for putting all the pieces of the musical comedy concert in the right place, to give their audience a night of cabaret that wouldn't change the world, only make people laugh. Oh, wait... laughter does change the world.”

Updates

I write and perform solo cabarets!

After a sold out night at Don’t Tell Mama in December 2024, I performed HOW TO BE YOURSELF again in July 2025 at The Green Room 42! I wrote the cabaret to explore my own personal authenticity, and encourage the audience to be themselves too. It is an exercise in bringing my true self on stage, and to explore why being yourself really is so important! How To Be Yourself is silly, light-hearted but it’s also a genuine self-reflection. In June 2026, I brought an updated version of the show, titled BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP, back to Don’t Tell Mama. Check out the highlight reels from all three shows down below:

Orange Blossom, a short film by Alia Carita and Nasma Kublawi

I co-starred with Netflix’s Salma Malhas in a coming of age short film, written and produced by Alia Carita and Nasma Kublawi. The short had it’s NYC premiere at the Regal Essex Crossing on the Lower East Side through the Katra Film Series New Faces New Voices Festival. The film was also selected by the Cannes Short Film Corner, and the Female Filmmakers Festival in Berlin, where it got a special mention. Our beautiful poster was created by Rama Duwaji. Check out the ORANGE BLOSSOM teaser and some clips from the short in my film reel!

Joan Baez: I AM A NOISE, NYC Premiere

I voiced the journal entries of thirteen year old Joan Baez in the new documentary, I AM A NOISE, directed by Miri Navasky, Maeve O’Boyle, and Karen O’Connor. The film had it’s NYC premiere on October 6th, 2023, at the iconic Film Forum with a Q&A panel for Joan, Miri, Maeve, and Karen, led by Jane Fonda! I AM A NOISE has achieved great box office success since it’s premiere in Berlin, and is an New York Times Critic’s Pick. It can also now be streamed at home!

Somehow We Manage at Feinstein’s/54 Below

I made my performing, directorial, and producing debut at Feinstein’s/54 Below while I was playing PAM, with the rest of the cast of THE OFFICE! A MUSICAL PARODY! Along with my co-producer, Westin Hicks, we created a show that asked - if your character in THE OFFICE was to sing a musical theater song, which one would it be?

“…it was a major boon to the production and director Hanna Shykind is to be commended for putting all the pieces of the musical comedy concert in the right place, in order to give their audience a night of cabaret that wouldn't change the world, only make people laugh. Oh, wait... laughter does change the world.” - BWW, Stephen Moser.
